Social Wars is a video game developed by the Danish company Muffin Games with the intention of educating players on how they can contribute to or fall victim to today's social media culture. In essence, this is a game that does not have any single player components and instead relies entirely on collaboration and interaction with other people online. Social Wars has been praised for its educational purposes, as well as its innovative gameplay and unique visuals. However, it is widely criticized for being difficult to play without knowing language – both English and Danish – which means that most people will only be able to experience it in its localized form (i.e., Denmark). Social Wars is a strategy game that dresses itself in the guise of social media, with the different "social media" used as the different factions of the game. The aim is to increase your own social power by using various strategies and actions (such as liking other people's posts), while at the same time preventing your opponents from doing so. The game has both desktop and mobile versions, though the mobile version is clearly more limited, since it does not allow for more than 5 players to join a single match. Each player chooses a faction and is given a chat-input box with which to communicate with other players. The factions are as follows: The game doesn't force you to choose a faction, but the more popular ones are usually occupied by other players already. At first, the game opens by asking for your age, gender and how many games you have played before. At first, this information is private between you and the game, however it can be made public after your first win or loss. This information will be used to determine if you should be placed in one of two groups: "casual" or "hardcore". If chosen by the game, you are then automatically considered a casual player, regardless of your real-life experience. After being matched to other players, you are informed that you have four different people to play against. From thereon out, the game will give you different options related to your opponent's social media accounts (likes/comments etc.). Every action you do to help your own cause (such as liking other people's posts) will be deducted from your opponent's score. Every action they take (such as liking or commenting on another player's post) will be tallied towards their total score. The number of actions left for each side is also displayed at the top of the chat box; this is called "reinforcement". When you like posts, you receive Drones (which are the game's currency); when you comment, however, you will be deducted some Drones. When you comment on your own post, nothing happens. Any action taken will have some kind of impact on which direction your opponent's morale is heading in. If your opponent's morale begins to dip into the red, then they will slowly lose their power and influence within that match. However, if yours begins to fall too, then you are the one at risk of losing out on said social power. If either one of you hits zero morale points before the time runs out, then the person with more points wins that round and receives some extra Drones as a reward. cfa1e77820
